Dr. Beth Gioia

Dr. Beth’s last name, Gioia (joya), means “joy” in Italian.  She has earned a PhD in Psychology with an emphasis in Family Studies and in Organizational Psychology. Her Masters degree was in Christian Counseling and she has completed 15 hours towards a Masters in Historical Theology. Professor Gioia is a master trainer with over 13 years of successful college teaching experience in many diverse fields

            Dr. Gioia currently serves as the Professor of Psychology and the Director of the Honors Program at the Superstition Mountain Campus of Central Arizona College.  She also serves as an adjunct faculty member at Ottawa University (in the Masters of Professional Counseling program), and at the University of St. Francis (in the Masters of Healthcare Administration program) at St. Joseph’s Hospital where she teaches healthcare ethics and medical sociology.

            Beth is a licensed professional counselor in the state of Illinois with a Masters degree in Counseling and has received hypnotherapy training at the Erickson Institute.  She is the Founder and Executive Director of Pure Intelligence a Life Coaching and Educational Consulting Company. Beth has coached clients internationally and throughout the United States.  Dr. Gioia is a frequent conference speaker and trainer for companies and churches.

Despite these achievements, Dr. Gioia has faced the challenges of living with Rheumatoid arthritis for the past 25 years. Struggling daily with pain, she has at times questioned God.  Finding God in the midst of suffering, while attempting to understand the effects of chronic disease and pain has been a life-long quest.
